Government officials from various agencies welcomed the arrival of 12,000 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procured by the Philippine Government for Filipino frontliners on April 14 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions, Inc. (PAGSS).
The PPE sets, which include coveralls, N95 masks, gloves, head cover, shoe cover, goggles, surgical mask, and surgical gown, are part of the 1 million sets worth PhP 1.8 billion procured by the Philippine Government. The PPE sets will be distributed to various COVID-19 referral hospitals for the use of our health workers attending to COVID-19 patients. The first batch of PPE sets, which include 15,000 sets, arrived on April 1, 2020 and the rest are scheduled to arrive until April 24, 2020.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), having assisted in the undertaking of the procurement of the PPE sets, joined the arrival ceremony with representatives from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, and the Office of Civil Defense. Also present were representatives from the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines.
