Souvenirs, food products and halal cuisine for athletes, guests and visitors at the 30th Southeast Asian Games are now available at the Go Lokal! Store and Halal Food Hub located at the East Commercial Building, New Clark City (NCC) in Capas, Tarlac.
Go Lokal! is a flagship program of the Department of Trade & Industry in partnership with major retailers and mall owners to help MSMEs sell their products to the mainstream market.
A brainchild of DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, the Go Lokal! and Halal Hub facility at the NCC is a collaboration with the private sector, notably the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) and PhilExport to make available Halal cuisine and Philippine souvenirs and food products, including OTOP, Likha ng Central Luzon and Maranao Products in time for the opening of the 30th SEA Games.
The launching of the Go Lokal! Pop Up store and Halal Food hub were led by DTI Undersecretary Abdulgani M. Macatoman and Mrs. Mufaidah Macatoman, Vice President Arrey Perez of BCDA, Director Marievic Bonoan of DTI Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion, Assistant Regional Director Zoriňa Aldana of DTI Region 3 and Provincial Director Elenita R. Ordonio of DTI Pampanga.
Featured Philippine brands are Island Girl, AKABA, Project Beans, B&C Healthy Snack Food Inc., Auro Chocolates, Gifts & Graces and Mira’s Turmeric Tea, among others. On the other hand, Halal food concessionaires include Hen Lin, Magic Melt, Asian Food Cuisine, Rajput Halal Pak Cuisine, La Rose/ Aqua Panem, Bricks and Copper, among others.
Simultaneous with the launch of the Go Lokal! Store at the SEA Games is the official opening of the ASEAN Halal Expo that also features a Go Lokal! Pop-up store which runs from 30 November 30 to 2 December 2019.
