MANILA — The Wellness Tourism Association of the Philippines (WeTAP) successfully hosted a landmark in-person General Membership Meeting and Pledge of Membership Ceremony on April 28, 2025, at the wellness-inspired Okada Manila. The event marked a meaningful transition from months of virtual engagements to a dynamic face-to-face gathering of industry leaders, members, and advocates.
The gathering underscored a renewed commitment to collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the country’s growing wellness tourism sector. Attendees engaged in productive exchanges, strengthening both professional networks and the shared vision of positioning the Philippines as a premier wellness destination.
The event was graced by Dir. Paulo Benito S. Tugbang, MD, Office of Product Development at the Department of Tourism, who reaffirmed the agency’s continued support for the wellness sector. He shared insights on “The Rise of Wellness Tourism in the Philippines,” noting that, based on the 2019 and 2023 reports, the wellness economy and tourism sector contributes between 9.49% and 9.92% to the country’s GDP, with complementary medicine emerging as the leading product.
Highlights of the gathering included updates on WeTAP’s programs and ongoing initiatives, networking sessions among industry stakeholders, and the ceremonial awarding of official Membership Certificates.
In celebration of the occasion, guests also enjoyed raffle prizes, auctions, exclusive giveaways, and a specially curated selection of refreshments — a testament to WeTAP’s commitment to community and hospitality.
