Mandaluyong — The progress report of the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) covering the period October 14 to October 31 shows ongoing works for the Ninoy Aquino Station, including installation of roofing, side wall (GI sheet), roof gutter and downspout, concrete cylinder testing, rebar layout for casting bed foundation, and clearing of Pi-girders storage area for the Precast Yard, and soil grading, compaction, and Topographical survey.
As for updates on the construction of piers, bored piling works for Piers 207, 206, 205, and 204 have already been completed, while the delivery of I-beams and steel casing for the Jetty platform of Pier 184 are ongoing, as well as the fence installation for Pier 200.
For Pier 203, ongoing works include the borehole de-sanding activity; rebar cages and pier column starter bars lifting and installation works, concrete pouring, concrete testing and concrete sampling. For pier 202, rebar cage fabrication, driving of 8-M steel casing, driveling and excavation of borehole, inspection, lifting and installation of pier column rebar cage, and welding of inner cage spacer bars are also in the works.
The LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project is an 11.7-kilometer rail extension line which will link the existing LRT-1 from its Baclaran Station all the way to Niog in Bacoor, Cavite.
Under Phase 1 of the project, partial operations of the first five stations (Redemptorist, MIA, Asiaworld, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. Santos) are targeted to begin by the 4th quarter of 2021.
This LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project is expected to increase LRT-1’s ridership from 500,000 to 800,000 per day, and reduce travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor, Cavite from 1 to 2 hours to only 25 minutes.
